Serena Williams has again modeled a swimsuit following the backlash over her use of the weight-loss drug, Ro.
The tennis star was photographed via Instagram wearing an olive green one-piece swimsuit while posing outdoors.
She wrapped up the summer look with a fuzzy pink dress and a pair of Ugg slippers while posing casually in three pictures, opting for soft glam with pink lips.
“I’m not perfect…but I’m the perfect me,” she captioned the upload on Friday. “Take time today to celebrate the absolute you! 💋”
Fans poured in a series of comments with supportive comments.
“Wow! You are an amazing woman Serena 😍😍😍❤️,” one person gushed, while another wrote, “Great post Serena, hope you [sic] good feeling”
A third chimed in, “We love you Serena! Hero! Legacy! Brave! Trendsetter! Mom! 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” while a fourth said, “Well said! Be you ❤️.”
Still others weren’t sure about the athlete’s toned down look. “Noooo I miss the old Serena….” one person admitted.
Williams, 44, previously showed off her weight change in a yellow cutout swimsuit back in August.
That same month, she faced fan backlash after a joint video with GLP-1 drug company Ro in which she apparently injected herself with the drug weekly – which she claimed she “needed” after welcoming two daughters with husband Alexis Ohanian in 2019 and 2023.
One Instagram user wrote at the time: “As an athlete and influencer, it’s a shame that you’re repeating the story that you need to take drugs to be healthy and achieve an acceptable standard of beauty. This video really saddens and disappoints me.”
The four-time Olympic gold medalist admitted to losing 30 pounds on medication in an interview with People.
“I feel really good and healthy,” she said last summer. “I feel physically and mentally drained.”
“I did a lot of research on this,” she said of the decision, noting that despite diet and exercise efforts, she “struggled to get back to where I needed to be.”
“I was like, ‘Is this a shortcut? What are the benefits? What aren’t the benefits?’ I really wanted to dive into it before I did it.
Now, she said, she feels her best again. “I can only do so much. I’m very active,” she told the outlet. “My joints don’t hurt as much, I just feel a little bit like going down is easier for me. And I do it a lot faster.”
She also noted an increase in energy and said she “feels great about it.”
