Temel tailors her sessions to whatever her clients are looking for.
“I work with people who are looking to add muscle, and others who want to lose 30 pounds,” Timmel said. “Parents will sign up young athletes (hockey, soccer, golf) for traditional strength training. I also work with a lot of people coming off surgeries like hip or knee replacements. Usually their physical therapist will tell them to do exercises to keep their muscles strong. They might go to the gym and ask about a personal trainer. Then I can consult with a personal trainer.
Timil starts with a free 30-minute consultation to gain insight into what someone is looking for. “We’re basically talking together,” Timmel said. “If I feel the need, I’ll have them do a few moves with me, just to see if they’re physically fit.”
A plan is then developed and Timil customizes fitness sessions for the individual based on their goals. Regular sessions are 60 minutes. People can do sessions once or twice a week, or even every week based on their preference. Exercising at Spring Creek Athletic Club requires a gym membership or purchase of a day pass. Home visits are also an option, with Timelle bringing her own fitness equipment or using what the client already owns.
Inspiration struck Thamel as an athlete at Lake Shore High School.

“When I was in high school I got involved with sports,” Timmel said. “I did lacrosse for the main part, along with track and field and tennis. We did a lot of strength training in sports. I wanted to continue that path in college at Buffalo State University. I graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in health and wellness and became certified as a personal trainer. I had friends who showed me kindness in physical education. The body can change, or What can be adapted in a certain time frame.
“As a coach, I’m very thorough in guiding my clients to reach their goals. It’s exciting to see their progress. And honestly, 99% go beyond what they thought they could do.”
The team offers a few tips for people who are first starting out.
“A big way that I always recommend to all my clients and people who come to see me is to drink water early in the morning. Before you get to the coffee, grab a bottle of water, this drink starts everything in your body, you can burn some calories faster during the day. It makes all the difference. Sleep is very important for good brain health, being able to sleep well. And keeping your motivation is important if you want to do something.
Thimel enjoys living and working in the spring and thinks everyone should exercise.
“I like the convenience of living in Spring, definitely,” Timmel said. “Our stores are very close and we have everything.” And it’s a good community. Everyone around Springville is so nice. And for practice, there’s no harm in trying something new. At the end of the day, you’re trying to make yourself better. Most of the time you give energy to other things like work. Why not put the energy into doing something for yourself?”
