Welcome to our column if you are not already following us. We try to keep everyone informed about what’s going on at the Nutrition Center. Events are coming up, services are available, and of course, menus for daily entrees. Business of the week for our desk ads was Riverway Manor in Van Buren. They provide nursing home care for loved ones who cannot stay in their own home. They also offer rehabilitation services along with treatment. If you need your loved one, consider Riverways Manor. Using our tabletop ad service from Riverways, they were sponsors for our Friday Free Bingo. We appreciate them using our advertising services. If you want to advertise your business; For just a $25 donation, your business profile will be on our desk; One on each table in the dining room for a week. You can leave your business cards with us at the front desk. Call us at 573-998-2544 or stop by the front desk. The monthly board meeting will be on Tuesday, March 17, at 1:00 p.m. I understand it will be over by the time you read this. I will report on the meeting next week. Meetings are always on the third Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted. If you are interested in the Nutrition Center and its operations we would like you to attend the meeting. We will also have what you think would be a good idea for an additional fundraiser. Whether it’s a game of sorts, or another idea, we want to hear it. Thursday, March 19th, the women of AARP will be with us to prepare for high income tax. They can also file for your property taxes or rent payments for qualified applicants. They will be available from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If you would like to take advantage of this free service, please call the office to put your name on the list. An appointment is not necessary, but women want to know what to expect. We appreciate the ladies who come out to help our seniors every tax season. Be sure to thank them for their service. On Friday, March 20, Southern Care and Comfort will be with us to sponsor free bingo. As always, they sponsor Third Fridayof the Games Thank you to Southern Care and Comfort for their continued support. The feeding center is reserved for rent on two Saturdays this month. The center is the perfect place to hold your event. There is plenty of room with tables and chairs. Bathroom facilities and a kitchen sink are available for use. There are rules that must be followed while renting. The rental fee is $25 per hour, with a two-hour minimum. You must reserve and pay the rental fee prior to the event. If you have an event, consider the center! Thursday, March 26, Cathy from Riverways Manor will be with us for our monthly foot clinic. He will be available from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Appointments are made this month to avoid unnecessary waiting time. We already have a number who have reserved their place. Call us to get your name in the appointment book. Cathy is doing a great job! You will not be disappointed. Thank you to Riverways Manor for providing this free service to our seniors. Foot care is important for older people, especially those with diabetes. Our Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) grants are still tax credits available. If you know someone who owns a business, or owns a business, and pays Missouri taxes, let them know we have a way to help them get a credit for those taxes!
